Kit guides / OPWDD Self-Direction

Can OPWDD pay for swim lessons?

Swim lessons are on the Family Support Services allowable recreation list and can also be an IDGS community class when they are public, instructional, and tied to a plan goal.

Public lesson versus adaptive-only program

A YMCA or rec-department lesson that anyone can join is the usual community-class shape.

A program offered only to people with disabilities is more likely to belong with Community Habilitation, Day Hab, or another waiver service than with a community-class reimbursement.

What the packet still needs

The offering page rarely has attendance rules, the FI's invoice format, or the plan-linkage sentence. Kit keeps those as follow-up items instead of inventing them.

One useful answer

Can a family gym membership cover the swim lesson?

Usually those are different lines. A membership has its own IDGS rules. A lesson is a class. Kit should not collapse them into one charge without the published terms.
